I don’t know about you, but welcoming any New Year brings a whole set of questions and anxieties: do I really know what I want to see happen in this New Year?, what did I really accomplish in the year that is ending?, does it really matter if I even have goals for the New Year?, where do I start?
If I look back over pr the years when I have actually written out my goals, I can see that it does matter. Just the simple act of sitting down, thinking about specifically what I really wanted to see happen, and actually writing them down, most of the time set a powerful process in motion. Even if I did not really think about the results until the end of the year, I could see that at least a few of them did materialize. Somehow, just giving the message to the Universe really helps.
Imagine what could happen if I really worked at accomplishing them! Actually had a specific, step-by-step plan to achieve the goals I wanted. The trick for me is to actually have a plan, which entails small incremental steps in moving forward. The answer is not to expect myself to take huge steps all at once – as a matter of fact, the times when I expect that are usually the times that I fail. It is just too much!
I like the feeling of actually checking off the steps – makes me really feel like I am moving ahead. For me, this process is make more powerful when I have help – someone who supports me – someone who helps me celebrate the steps but who also reminds me of what I really want to accomplish and how good that would feel. Someone who reminds me of my vision!
What about you? Will you take the time to come up with a few goals for this year? Notice I said just a few. Don’t let yourself become overwhelmed by it, but start taking small steps to move forward. You are worth it!
